A Vietnamese man was arrested by the UAE due to an international warrant for fraud, and will be extradited to Vietnam for further investigations.

At Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on Wednesday, the police of northern Cao Bang Province, in cooperation with the Immigration Department, received 33-year-old Nguyen Tran Vinh.

In 2017, Vinh received VND600 million ($23,557) from a man to help him enter the police force.

However, Vinh did not do what he promised and did not return the money to the man. In 2020, Vinh escaped from Vietnam.

In April 2021, Cao Bang police launched an investigation against Vinh for obtaining property by fraud, but he had already escaped to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In October 2022, Interpol made Vinh internationally wanted.

UAE police later discovered Vinh working at a Vietnamese restaurant in Dubai. They arrested him in March.
