The Jizhou Branch of Tianjin Public Security Bureau announced last Sunday that a local man, surnamed Wang, a 39-year-old grocery store owner, was arrested for allegedly injecting rat poison into snacks sold at his store, resulting in multiple cases of poisoning.
On Sept. 11, the police received a report from a resident of Jizhou District, Tianjin City, who experienced nosebleeds after consuming a snack. Upon investigation, both the victim's blood and the snack were found to contain rat poison. Similar reports from other consumers soon followed, according to Sina News.
As police investigated the source of the tainted snacks, they identified Wang as the suspect.
It was discovered that Wang had purchased rat poison from a local market and used a syringe to inject it into food sold at his grocery store multiple times.
During a search of Wang's residence, police found the syringe and remaining rat poison.
Under interrogation, Wang confessed to the crime, explaining that he had often been despised and ridiculed by villagers due to his single status, which led to his dissatisfaction and subsequent actions, as reported by QQ News.
Wang is currently in criminal detention, and the case is still under investigation. All contaminated food has been recalled and sealed. The victims who were poisoned have received treatment and are in stable condition, with no life-threatening injuries.
