Two men in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province were arrested after the police found the body of a woman who went missing for days inside a suitcase on a mountain.

Bui Van Thao, director of the Ba Ria-Vung Tau police, on Thursday said authorities had arrested two murder suspects of a 21-year-old woman who lived in HCMC that borders the province. Her family had reported her missing for several days, and the police found out that she traveled to Vung Tau.

The two murder suspects, Vo Thanh Long, 20, and Vu Thanh Huy, 25, were hiding in HCMC when the police caught them.

A few hours after that, the woman's body was found inside a suitcase on Nho Mountain of Vung Tau City. She was determined to have died 4-5 days prior.

Long and Huy are now being investigated for murder and robbery.

Long said he got acquainted with the woman on Facebook.

On May 18, Long and Huy hired a taxi from Ba Ria-Vung Tau to get her to Vung Tau to hang out. By midnight the next day, Long and the woman returned to a hotel to rest.

Long saw that she had jewelry and other belongings with her, so he strangled her to death, before telling Huy what happened. Long and Huy then discussed ways to dispose of the body and steal her belongings.

By 10:30 a.m. on May 19, Long bought a suitcase and put the woman's body inside it with Huy. They then drove the suitcase to an empty land plot in Nho Mountain to dispose of it. They then sold the woman's belongings.

Huy, however kept her iPhone.

An investigation is ongoing.
