BAT Vietnam maintains ranking in top 100 sustainable businesses in Vietnam

British American Tobacco (BAT) Vietnam was named the 12th most sustainable business in Vietnam at the Sustainable Companies in Vietnam 2022 awards ceremony in Hanoi on December 1.

BAT Vietnam has been on the list of "Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam" four times in the past seven years (2017, 2018, 2021, 2022).

This year, the company was also among five companies commended for implementing the Circular Economy and Climate Change Response, based on performance points from the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI Index).

"To be named in the Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam is valuable proof of our commitment to the strategy for sustainable development," said Song Young Jae, General Director of BAT-Vinataba JV Company, a subsidiary in Vietnam.

"We will continue to develop a roadmap with clear and measurable goals for each pillar of ESG and monitor the realization of these goals thoroughly and consistently," he said.

BAT entered Vietnam in 1994. According to BAT Vietnam's officials, sustainable development is an important part of the company's mission and strategy, displayed through its commitment to reducing health impacts through practices in areas of environment, social, and governance (ESG).

Regarding environment, BAT Vietnam works to minimize climate impacts throughout the supply chain. The company adopts circular economy principles to reduce landfill waste to zero and increase the recycling of water.

In terms of social, BAT Vietnam is dedicated to improving the standard of living for all farmers in its supply chain by increasing incomes and crop yields.
