Lam Dong Province has rejected proposals to build two seven-story underground parking lots and a resort complex in Da Lat.

Tran Van Hiep, chairman of the provincial people's committee, confirmed the decision on the Hoang Gia DL JSC project on Saturday.

Authorities rejected the proposals, set for the Cu Hill golf course, as the items were not previously included in the local planning. The province said it would not "run after investors."

Hoang Gia DL, owner of Cu Hill golf course and many tourist projects in the city, had proposed building the entertainment and resort complex, along with two seven-story parking lots at the 64-hectare golf course in downtown Da Lat. The project was set to be adjacent to Xuan Huong Lake, near the intersection of Tran Quoc Toan and Dinh Tien Hoang streets.

The expansion of Tran Quoc Toan Street is another Hoang Gia DL project, with the company set to hand the project over to Da Lat authorities on completion.

The two projects occupy over 15 hectares of land, which is being planned for forestry and sports facilities. The company had proposed adjusting the planning and legal procedures to change the land use.

Da Lat spans over 393 square km, home to 237,000 people. In recent years, the city has often had traffic jams on holidays and weekends, and a lack of parking space due to a large number of tourists.

At the end of 2021, Da Lat installed its first traffic lights at several intersections to prevent congestion.
