Vietnam's ongoing outbreak continues to grow with 61 new domestic Covid-19 patients confirmed Monday morning, sending its fourth wave's tally to 4,096.

The new cases were registered in three northern localities of Bac Giang, Hanoi and Lang Son.

Epicenter Bac Giang Province reported 43 cases and all are related to clusters at its industrial parks.

Hanoi recorded 15 cases who have come into contact with Covid-19 patients.

Of the remaining three cases that are detected in Lang Son Province, one is linked to the hotspot at Quang Chau Industrial Park in Bac Giang, one is a person that had contact with a previously confirmed Covid-19 patient and one is related to a cluster in Lang Son's Huu Lung District.

Over a month into the new Covid wave, the fourth one and the most challenging one Vietnam has faced yet, the nation has recorded domestic cases in 34 of its 63 cities and provinces.

Bac Giang Province and its neighbor Bac Ninh account for most infections, with 2,161 and 804 cases. They are followed by the three biggest cities of Hanoi with 399 cases (93 in a hospital under lockdown), HCMC with 157 cases and Da Nang with 156.
