The batch arrived on Monday night is part the U.K. government’s pledge to Vietnam during a donation drive to deliver nine million vaccines to countries around the world, the U.K. embassy said in a statement.
With the additional arrivals, Vietnam has received about 19 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines of various types - AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer, and Sinopharm.
All were sourced via commercial contracts, the Covax mechanism, and gifts from the governments of Japan, the U.S., U.K., China and Russia.
By Tuesday morning, Vietnam has administered almost seven million Covid-19 vaccine doses, with 700,000 having received two jabs.
The nation targets to inoculate 70 percent of its 96-million population by the end of next April.
