The province has been working with Binh Duong Water – Environment Joint Stock Company based in its neighbor Binh Duong Province on the project, which is expected to provide 60,000 cubic meters of water every 24 hours.
Water for the project will come from the Dong Nai River before being processed to provide for residents in Long Thanh and Cam My districts along with other residential areas around the airport, which is set to replace HCMC's Tan Son Nhat airport as the largest in Vietnam once completed.
Dong Nai chairman Cao Tien Dung said this project is necessary and ordered related units to soon organize bids to choose investors and give priorities to it.
Dong Nai bordering HCMC is becoming a major industrial hub as foreign companies continue to shift their production to Vietnam.
The government earlier said the airport construction should be completed in the first half of 2025, and that it would become operational by the end of that year.
