The index closed 17.62 points higher after dropping 1.10 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 6% to VND22.992 trillion (US$928 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 24 tickers gained.
VIB of private lender VIB led with a 6.8% increase, followed by MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World with a 5.5% growth and TCB of private lender Techcombank, up 5.0%
Six blue chips fell. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail slid 1.5% while VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup dropped 1.1% and VHM of property giant Vinhomes declined by 0.9%.
Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND565 billion, mainly selling FUEVFVND of exchange-traded fund DCVFMVN DIAMOND and VIC of Vincom Retail.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.79%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went down 0.07%.
