Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index dropped 0.45% to 1117.42 points Wednesday after closing three sessions in the green.

The index closed 5.04 points lower after gaining 6.44 points on Tuesday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) fell by 2% to VND17.13 trillion ($728.72 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 17 tickers fall.

PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development lost 4.2%, followed by GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group with a 2.7% decline.

NVL of property developer Novaland Group fell 2.6% and MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World closed 2.2% lower.

Eleven blue chips gained, led by CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank with a 1.4% rise.

Foreign investors were net buyers for the fourth straight session to the tune of VND604.02 billion, mainly buying HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group and SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 0.58% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.21%.
