The index closed 7.37 points higher after dropping 7.55 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 19% to VND14.06 trillion ($579.79 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 24 tickers gained.
STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank led with a 2.7% rise, followed by VHM of property giant Vinhomes, up 2.4%.
TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank rose 2.2% and BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings closed 1.9% higher.
Two blue chips fell. CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank and HDB of HDBank both dropped 0.3%.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND47 billion, mainly buying DGC of Duc Giang Chemicals Group and VHM of property giant Vinhomes.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.22%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.19%.
