VN-Index rises slightly

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index increased by 0.07% to 1,283.09 points Wednesday.

The index closed 0.88 points higher after gaining 14.35 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) rose 9.9% to VND24.061 trillion (US$962.44 million).

The VN30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 13 tickers gained.

MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World gained 4.2%, MSN of conglomerate Masan Group went up 1.9%, and SSI of brokerage SSI Securities Corporation grew 1.3%.

Eleven blue chips fell. VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail went down 1.7%, GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group declined by 1.5% and BID of state-owned lender BIDV slid 0.9%

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND1.87 trillion, mainly selling MSN of Masan Group and VIX of VIX Securities Joint Stock Company.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.34% while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market fell 0.03%.
