Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index gained 0.07% to 1,151.61 points Thursday.

The index closed 0,80 points higher after gaining 7.12 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by 18% to VND14.433 trillion ($540.43 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 13 tickers gained and 17 fell.

TPB of of private TPBank rose 2.7%, and VIC of Vietnam’s biggest private conglomerate Vingroup gained 2.3%.

Other gainers included VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, up 1.5%, and SAB of Saigon Beer Corporation, up 1.3%.

Foreign investors were net seller to the tune of VND661 billion, selling mainly MWG of of electronics retail giant The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World).

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.61% while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up 0.38%.
