The index closed 9.51 points higher after dropping 11.86 points in the previous session.

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 17 tickers gained and 13 fell.
GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group surged 6.9%, followed by BID of state-owned lender BIDV with a 3% increase.
VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail rose 2.9% and TCB of the largest private lender Techcombank closed 2% higher.
Eight blue chips fell. POW of electricity producer Petrovietnam Power Corporation and SHB of Saigon Hanoi Commercial Bank both dropped 0.9%.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND174 billion, mainly selling MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World and VIX of VIX Securities Jsc.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.08%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.12%.
