The index closed 2.65 points higher after gaining 4.08 points on Friday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 12% to VND20.38 trillion ($861.97 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 18 tickers gain.
MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World gained 3.4%, followed by GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group with a 3.2% increase.
NVL of property developer Novaland Group rose 2.8% and VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk went up 2.2%.
Eight blue chips fell.
STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank lost 2.3% and VHM of property giant Vinhomes closed 0.9% lower.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND448.53 billion, mainly selling VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was down 0.23% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was down by 0.13%.
