VN-Index ends second session in green

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index rose 0.78% to 1,137.36 points Monday, closing its second consecutive session in the green.

The index closed 8.82 points higher after gaining 14.6 points on Friday.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) stood at VND13.77 trillion ($564.69 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 20 tickers gained.

PVC of PetroVietnam Chemical and Services surged 6.7%, followed by BSR of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical, which operates the Dung Quat Oil Refinery, with a 5% increase.

Nine blue chips bucked the trend, including VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup and SAB of of beer producer Saigon Beer Corporation with an 1% decline.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND711 billion, highest since Oct. 5, mainly selling FUEVFVND of Dragon Capital Vietfund Management and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 1.34% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market downed 0.35%.
