The index closed 10.93 points higher after gaining 10.89 points on Thursday last week, ahead of a four-day holiday.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) increased by 15.04% to VND24.56 trillion ($1.02 billion).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 25 largest capped stocks, saw 25 tickers gained.
MBB of lender MB went up 3.5%, followed by VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk with a 3% increase.
VJC of budget airline Vietjet rose 2.6% and PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex closed 1.6% higher.
Four blue chips bucked the trend, including SSB of Southeast Asia Commercial Bank (SeABank) with a 2.1% decline.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND390.62 billion, mainly selling SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation and VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 0.72% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market was up by 0.65%.
