VN-Index drops slightly

Vietnam's benchmark VN-Index fell 0.09% to 1,242.46 points Tuesday.

The index closed 1.10 points lower after dropping 20.22 points in the previous session.

Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 50% to VND21.65 trillion ($875 million).

The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 21 tickers fell.

PLX of fuel distributor Petrolimex gained 2.6%, followed by VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup with a 2% increase.

VHM of property giant Vinhomes went up 1.9% and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat Group dropped 0.7%.

VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail fell 2.9% and SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation declined by 1.4%.

Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND872 billion, mainly selling SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation and VRE of retail real estate arm Vincom Retail.

The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, fell 0.22%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.31%.
