The index closed 7.12 points higher after gaining 6.33 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 21% to VND12.193 trillion ($498.69 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 21 tickers gained and 9 fell.
PVD of Petrovietnam Drilling & Well Services Corporation led with a 6% rise, followed by PVC of of PetroVietnam Chemical and Services, up 5.2%.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND23 billion.
The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange, where mid and small caps list, was up 1.21% while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market increased by 0.34%.
