The index closed 15.55 points lower after dropping 18.25 points in the previous session.
It is now at the lowest since June 1.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 37% to VND13.712 trillion ($558.56 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 26 tickers fell.
VPB of private lender VPBank dropped 4.7%, followed by SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities Corporation, down 4.6%.
MWG of electronics retail chain Mobile World closed 3.8% lower while VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk lost 3.4%.
Four blue chips gained slightly, led by CTG of state-owned lender VietinBank with a 0.9% rise.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of VND269 billion, mainly buying FPT of IT giant FPT Corporation and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, dropped 1.61% while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market fell 1.11%.
