The index closed 7.20 points higher after gaining 3.97 points in the previous session.
Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange decreased by 6% to VND18.25 trillion ($743.84 million).
The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, saw 17 tickers gained and 13 fell.
GVR of Vietnam Rubber Group led with a 6.8% rise, followed by VNM of dairy giant Vinamilk, up 3.6%.
VIC of private conglomerate Vingroup rose 3.3% and BVH of insurance company Bao Viet Holdings closed 2.9% higher.
Nine blue chips fell, including HDB of HDBank with a 1.5% decline.
Foreign investors were net sellers to the tune of VND401 billion, mainly selling VNM and STB of Ho Chi Minh City-based lender Sacombank.
The HNX-Index for stocks on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, home to mid and small caps, rose 0.13%, while the UPCoM-Index for the Unlisted Public Companies Market went up 0.01%.
