SJC gold price went up 0.15% to VND68.9 million ($2,864.87) per tael Monday morning as it stands firm at this year's new peak.

Gold ring price gained 0.18% to VND57.2 million per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Globally gold prices rose on Monday, supported by a retreat in the dollar as investors looked forward to U.S. inflation data that could define the Federal Reserve's moves on interest rates, Reuters reported.

Spot gold gained 0.3% to $1,922.89 per ounce, having lost 1% in the previous week. U.S. gold futures rose 0.2% to $1,946.30.

Gold should be supported above the $1,900 level if the U.S. dollar continues to decline, said Matt Simpson, a senior analyst at City Index, as cited by Reuters.
