The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong Tuesday afternoon to the highest since Nov. 14.

Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND24,515, up 0.14% from Monday.

The State Bank of Vietnam raised its reference rate by 0.13% to VND23,914.

The dollar rose 0.04% at VND24,750 on the black market.

The dollar has increased by 3.31% since the beginning of the year.

Globally the yen tumbled on Tuesday after the Bank of Japan (BOJ) maintained its ultra-loose monetary policy, as expected, and more surprisingly did not signal a change was approaching, while the dollar drifted at the low end of its recent range, Reuters reported.

The dollar and euro both climbed 1% on the yen, each set for its biggest daily gain since end October, with the greenback reaching 144.27 yen, and the common currency 157.68.
