The U.S. dollar rose against the Vietnamese dong on Thursday, reaching the highest in nearly four weeks.

Vietcombank sold the dollar at VND24,760, up 0.32% from Wednesday, highest since Jan. 27.

The State Bank of Vietnam lowered its reference rate by 0.05% to VND23,981.

The dollar went up 0.36% to VND25,220 on the black market.

It has increased against the dong by 1.39% since the beginning of the year.

Globally the dollar held broadly steady on Thursday as traders awaited a slew of business activity surveys to gauge the health of major economies and what that may mean for the global interest rate outlook, Reuters reported.

In early Asian trade, the euro gained 0.11% to $1.0831, while sterling was flat at $1.2638.

The dollar edged higher against the yen and was back above the 150 level to last trade at 150.34 yen.
