The awardees this year include 10 electrical engineering students at the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and five each studying energy technology at the Electric Power University and chemistry at the University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The scholarship program was created to ease beneficiaries' financial burden, offer career orientation programs and develop students' soft skills.
CED's intensive training courses will provide students with practical information to help develop their potential, improve their knowledge of the energy industry and offer orientation for their future professions.

Each of the 10 students will get a VND14 million cash grant in addition to soft skills training, English lessons, community service, and a visit to the Mong Duong 2 Thermal Power Plant in Quang Ninh Province.
"The financial support from the scholarship has enabled me to pursue scientific research more effectively and at the same time helps my family pay tuitions," Ha Minh Son, a student at the School of Electrical Engineering, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said referring to his experience with the scholarship program.
"The lessons that I gain from the course are useful in life."

Prof Dr Nguyen Phong, vice president, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said, "The scholarship provides great encouragement for them to study harder and gives them the opportunity to improve soft skills that are important for their personal and career development in future."
Kris Larson, construction project director, AES Vietnam said developing high-tech human resources from the local workforce is one of the sustainable development goals his company pursues in Vietnam.

The awards are part of an annual scholarship program carried out by AES since 2017.
