At her first appearance at Cannes on May 24, for the premiere of "The Most Precious of Cargoes," King wore a bespoke see-through corset blue gown by Cong Tri, earning high praise from the press for its charm and impact.
She enhanced her ensemble with high heels by Gianvito Rossi and jewelry from Gabriel & Co.
People magazine described Cong Tri’s creation as both beautiful and bold. Both Harper’s Bazaar and E! News included the gown in their lists of best dresses at Cannes. Business Insider also recognized the design among its selection of bold and impressive outfits.
King shared her happiness and appreciation for the designer on her Instagram.
"Thank you, Cong Tri, for this custom gown," she posted. "I felt sexy, and felt like a princess."
Explaining the concept of the design, the designer said: "The gown is inspired by the gentle flow of water caressing the skin, skillfully covering yet creating striking gaps."
In response to King’s preferences, he selected fine chiffon fabric for the creation and adorned it with Swarovski crystals at the waist. A corset structure was incorporated to emphasize the wearer’s figure effectively.
King, 25, has been acting professionally since she was four. She first came to prominence with her role in the 2010 comedy "Ramona and Beezus" and is widely known for her leading role in the 2018 movie "The Kissing Booth" and its sequels.
Cong Tri, 46, is originally from the coastal city of Da Nang. He founded his brand in 2009 and has since become a favored designer for numerous A-list celebrities such as Adele, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron, Katy Perry, and Rihanna.
