Famed Vietnamese folk song 'Trong Com' has featured in many videos posted to Chinese social media app Douyin.

The song first appeared in a short video of a Douyin user named Cciinnn, attracting more than 52,000 likes and 400 comments.

Many urban and rural users of Douyin, a Chinese version of TikTok, can be seen dancing to the song’s funny melody.

Cciinnn, famous on Douyin with more than 500,000 followers and 5.5 million likes, was also the first account to use Vietnamese song "2 Phut Hon" (Over Two Minutes) in her video, helping the song go viral.

"Trong Com" (Rice Drum) is a cheerful folk song from the Red River Delta region, known and loved by Vietnamese across different generations.

Before the song went viral, Vietnamese songs like "Cu Chill Thoi" (Just Chill) by boyband Chillies, "Hay Trao Cho Anh" (Give It To Me) by Son Tung M-TP, and "2 Phut Hon" (Over Two Minutes) by rapper Phao cooked up a storm on the Chinese social media app.
