Spotting a big python in the garden, residents of central Nghe An Province captured it, opened its stomach and found a 15-kilogram goat inside.

On the evening of July 15, Nguyen Dao Quan, residing in Nghi Yen Commune, Nghi Loc District, found a python with a big stomach coiled around a tree. He immediately called other villagers to come and catch the animal, which was five meters long.

After cutting open its stomach, they found a goat, belonging to a family in the village. The 30-kilogram python was then divided into pieces and distributed among locals.

Previously, many people had lost their goats and chickens, and suspected the python to be the culprit.

"People are frustrated because their animals have been lost, so it’s difficult to blame anyone for killing the python," a Nghi Xuan Commune leader commented.

In 2016, farmers in Nghe An also killed a python to avenge their livestock.

There are three python breeds in Vietnam: Python molurus, Python reticulatus, and Python brongersmai. All are rare and endangered species named in the Vietnam Red Book.
