Hue residents flock to Perfume River to beat the heat

At 5:00 p.m. on June 30, hundreds of Hue residents poured into Perfume River around the Me wharf to escape temperatures of around 39 degrees Celsius.

When the sun dipping in the sky, people brought along life jackets, inflatables and other fun gear to Perfume River. The habit of swimming here every evening has been maintained for decades.

Local authorities built a semi circular swimming pool to ensure the safety of young children bathing in Perfume River.

Some youngsters enjoy performing somersaults.

Standup paddle boarding (SUP) is also popular.

Hundreds of all ages gather to soak in the cool waters.

Police habitually remind swimmers not to form big crowds or stray too far from shore.

In the evening, more and more people arrive to take a dip. The riverside by Kim Long and Huong Long wards also see hundreds of swimmers take a plunge.
