According to Dimsum Daily, Chan shared photos on Instagram of herself and her 16-year-old daughter posing on the red carpet of the fashion event on Nov. 29 in Hong Kong, with Chan in a striking black backless gown and Josephine in a white cape dress.
Many admired their fashion choices, commenting that they looked more like sisters than a mother and daughter. Tatler Asia also highlighted Chan and Josephine as two of the best-dressed women at the event.

However, Josephine's outfit and appearance sparked mixed reactions online. Some netizens commented on Chan's post, pointing out that her daughter's attire seemed too mature for her age. "She looks older than her mother," one person wrote.
At 45, Chan, married to property tycoon Lau, is one of the wealthiest women in Hong Kong and is renowned for her collection of exclusive, rare Hermès bags, as reported by WWD.

Before marrying Lau in 2016, Chan worked as a showbiz journalist for Apple Daily in Hong Kong. The couple has three children, according to the South China Morning Post.
With a net worth of $13.1 billion, Lau ranks sixth among Hong Kong’s wealthiest individuals in 2024, according to Forbes. Formerly the chairman of Chinese Estates, he is also known for his high-profile relationships with several actresses over the past two decades, often marked by gifts of rare bags and fine jewelry.
In 2017, due to health issues, Lau transferred 75% of his shares in Chinese Estates to Chan and their son, making her the richest woman in Hong Kong at the time.
