Miss Universe Vietnam announced on Wednesday evening that Giang would join the international stage. Unlike previous seasons, the national organizer selected Giang directly rather than holding a domestic competition, citing her combination of feminine beauty, intelligence, confidence, and inspiring personal story.

"We believe she has never stopped challenging herself," a representative said. "In every role, Giang shines with inner strength, reflecting the image of a modern Vietnamese woman."

Earlier this year, the organization had planned to hold a competition, but it was ultimately canceled. According to Miss Universe rules, national organizations must confirm their contestants by Sept. 30, with priority given to domestic titleholders.

Since her Miss International Queen 2018 triumph, Giang has been active as a singer, actress, and TV personality. Last year, she also took on the role of producer for Miss Universe Vietnam.

Miss Universe, first held in 1952, is among the world’s most-watched pageants, with broadcast rights in 165 countries and territories. U.S. President Donald Trump once owned the organization, which is now managed by Legacy Holding Group USA, based in Mexico, with Raul Rocha Cantu as representative.

Recent changes to Miss Universe rules have emphasized diversity, highlighting not only beauty but also courage and a healthy lifestyle. Transgender women have been allowed to participate since 2013, and since 2023, married women and mothers are also eligible to compete.

The 74th edition of Miss Universe will be held in Thailand this November, with more than 100 contestants expected. Last year’s titleholder, Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark, will crown the new winner.
