Thailand’s Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati continues to suffer from low blood pressure nearly three years after collapsing from a heart condition, according to the Royal Household Bureau.

The bureau issued its fifth statement on Tuesday, confirming the 46-year-old princess, known as "Princess Bha," remains under treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok. She has been receiving medical care since losing consciousness due to a heart condition on Dec. 15, 2022.

The bureau noted that she is still experiencing low blood pressure. Doctors are administering medication to support her blood pressure, along with antibiotics, renal replacement therapy, and assisted respiration, The Nation reported. Her condition remains under close observation.

Last week, the royal family said her medical team detected a severe bloodstream infection and prescribed antibiotics and drugs to stabilize her blood pressure, according to People.

"The doctors have reported that the Princess’ lungs and kidneys have been functioning with support from medical devices and medication," the statement said.

Princess Bha, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, 71, and his first wife, Soamsawali Kitiyakara, was once considered a frontrunner for succession, though Thai tradition typically favors a male heir. The King has not yet named a successor.

Before her illness, the princess earned law and international relations degrees in Thailand and the U.S., worked for the United Nations, and served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria. She was also recognized for her advocacy on behalf of incarcerated women, contributing to the U.N.’s 2010 adoption of the "Bangkok Rules" on the treatment of women prisoners.

On Wednesday, The Royal Gazette announced her promotion from chief-of-staff of the Royal Guards under the Royal Security Command with the rank of general to deputy commander with the rank of senior general, the Bangkok Post reported.
