Mother of Miss Universe Vietnam passes away in traffic accident

The beauty queen's management company announced that Dang Thi Gai, Chau's mother, passed away on Tuesday noon due to a motorcycle accident in the province's Tan Chau district. A representative mentioned that Chau has requested to suspend all activities and delay upcoming commitments to be with her family during this period.

The funeral for her mother was conducted on the evening of Tuesday, with the burial held at the family cemetery in the province's Tan Hung commune, on Thursday.

Gai was well-known for accompanying her daughter to numerous showbiz events, where she won the public's affection with her kind and gentle demeanor.

Chau, 30, gained fame by winning Vietnam's Next Top Model 2016. She later won Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018, placed in the Top 10 at Miss Supranational 2019 before being crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2022.

She is now actively involved in modelling, public speaking, and hosting various entertainment industry events.
