According to The Star, the dinner featured two patin fish, each weighing nearly 6 kilograms, specially selected by Yip for the occasion.
"The flesh was tender and not greasy at all. The natural fish oil made it smooth and delicate," the actress described. "Everyone couldn’t stop praising the taste after their first bite."
In addition to the dinner, Yip organized games and lucky draws with red packets as prizes, creating a festive atmosphere for her guests–including actor Raymond Wong, film director Philip Chan, and actress Lelia Chow.
Reflecting on the event, Yip expressed her appreciation: "I’m so grateful because each time I send out invitations to my dinner, most people usually decline due to other commitments."
Yip has a history of importing premium fish for her gatherings. Last September, she featured a 1.8-kilogram empurau, also known as the "King of the River" and reputed to be the most expensive freshwater fish in Malaysia, at a similar event in Hong Kong.
Yip, 58, began her career as a trainee at Asia Television (ATV) and signed a two-year contract in 1985. She later moved on to film, receiving her big break in the 1990 Category III film "Erotic Ghost Story."
She retired from acting in 1997, citing unmemorable roles, and has since entered the business world, notably founding a durian-themed hotel in Penang, Malaysia, reportedly the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
