At a recent brand event attended by the couple, Yuen, 53, shared that her husband, also 53, handles all their financial matters.
"[Julian’s] the head of the family... It’s best to let him help me rake in the big bucks," Yuen said. "Every year, I offer my prayers and hope to sit back and enjoy the fruits of our labor."
However, she clarified that she maintains her financial independence and is free to manage her own finances if she wishes.
Cheung admitted to the press that managing their family’s finances can be "troublesome," but he takes on the responsibility because his wife refuses to do so. He also revealed that their 18-year-old son Morton is unlikely to take over the household budgeting in the future due to his artistic inclinations.
Yuen earned the title of Miss Photogenic at the Miss Hong Kong 1990 pageant and went on to become the first runner-up at the Miss Chinese International 1991 pageant. She also competed in the Miss Universe 1991 pageant and made her acting debut the same year.
Cheung gained instant fame in 1991 with the release of his debut single "A Modern Love Story," featuring Hong Kong singer Maple Hui. He signed with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB that same year and reached the height of his popularity in 1994 when he portrayed Guo Jing in "The Legend of the Condor Heroes."
The couple met in the 1990s while filming a music video together. In 1994, they publicly announced their relationship. They secretly wed in 2001 in San Francisco, California.
