During an appearance on the show "Happy Women’s Club," Choi candidly discussed her experiences raising children and navigating married life. She revealed that her marriage is not as flawless as it might appear on the surface, having its share of ups and downs.

The actress also admitted to having a fiery temper, enjoying romance, and placing significant importance on celebrating holidays and anniversaries—factors that have occasionally caused tension in her marriage.

One such instance occurred in 2021, when Choi, feeling overwhelmed by life, began to frequently blame her husband. That year, the couple and their children had just relocated from Hong Kong to Shanghai for work, and Zhang was often away filming reality shows and movies. Choi was left to care for their three children—one of whom was around two years old—while managing household duties and her entertainment career.

With no family or friends in Shanghai to confide in, she found herself feeling isolated. Her husband’s frequent absences left her lonely, and she often found herself crying during solitary moments, such as while cycling or walking in the park.

Another emotional moment occurred on her birthday in 2022, when Zhang came home sick. Choi recalled how she allowed him to sleep in the morning, and in the afternoon, they went out to see a movie. However, Zhang, uninterested, fell asleep in the theater. This left Choi feeling as though "having her husband there was like having no one."

After leaving the cinema, she broke down in tears, expressing her frustration and blaming her husband. Zhang, too, became emotional and said "I am so tired," turning her birthday into a difficult day for them both.

Despite these challenges, Choi emphasized that both she and Zhang are committed to treating each other with sincerity and understanding. After releasing their frustrations, they often reconcile, growing closer in the process.

Choi shared that after returning to Hong Kong with their children two years ago, she is now enjoying the happiest and most relaxed period of her life. In the evenings, after their children go to bed, she and Zhang spend quality time together watching movies and eating in the living room. Choi also revealed that Zhang is passionate about flying drones, and she frequently accompanies him to offer her support.

Choi, 52, rose to fame as the second runner-up in the 1991 Miss Hong Kong pageant and went on to sign with the broadcasting network TVB. She won the TVB Anniversary Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1998 drama "Secret of the Heart."

Along with actresses Maggie Cheung, Kenix Kwok, Flora Chan, and Jessica Hsuan, Choi is considered one of TVB’s top five "Fa Dans," a term used to describe the network’s most popular actresses from the mid-1990s to mid-2000s.

Zhang, 51, began his career as a stunt actor, notably working as the stunt double for Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi in the 2000 film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon." He later earned recognition for winning Best Supporting Actor at the 33rd Hong Kong Film Awards in 2014.

The couple married in 2008.
