Former NCT member Moon Tae-il faces indictments for sexual assault woman with two other men

Moon Tae-il, ex-member of K-pop boyband NCT, has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a woman along with two other men.

According to reports by Korea Joongang Daily, based on Chosun Ilbo, the ex-idol Moon Tae-il has been formally charged with special quasi-rape by the police. The incident involved a woman who was intoxicated at the time. The other individuals involved, who are not celebrities, were also part of the case.

If convicted, Moon faces a potential sentence ranging from over seven years to life imprisonment.

Moon was reported to police for sexual assault in June and underwent questioning on Aug. 28. Following his interrogation at the Seoul Bangbae Police Station, the case was moved to the Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office on Sept. 12.

In light of the allegations, SM Entertainment issued a statement saying, "Taeil has been accused of a serious criminal sexual offense." They further noted the grave nature of the accusations and decided that Moon could not continue with group activities, leading to a mutual agreement to part ways.

The prosecutor's office has not yet called Moon for further questioning. Both Moon and SM Entertainment have remained quiet regarding the report released on Monday.

Moon Tae-il, who also goes by Tae-il, began his career with NCT in 2016, as reported by The Chosun Daily.
