Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, ex-husband of actress Barbie Hsu, is reportedly facing NT$4.5 billion (US$137 million) in debt alongside emotional turmoil following her death at 49.

Citing Chinese media outlet 163, Dan Tri reported that Wang has been dealing with multiple setbacks since Hsu’s passing in Japan on Feb. 2.

He has been banned from Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, and is allegedly over NT$4.5 billion in debt. A source claimed his financial struggles have strained his business relationships, with one partner reportedly canceling a lease contract, delaying his store’s launch and causing significant losses for him and his new wife, Mandy.

Wang and Mandy, who registered their marriage in 2024, had planned to hold a wedding ceremony in May, but it may now be postponed due to his financial and mental health challenges, the source added.

Meanwhile, Sohu reported that legal experts revealed Wang, 44, holds guardianship over his two children from his marriage to Hsu. Her family has agreed to let them relocate to Beijing to live with him and Mandy.

A source close to Hsu’s mother and sister, Dee Hsu, said the family hopes Wang will provide the children with stability and help them adjust.

Mandy previously told Mirror Media that she and Wang have been facing relentless online harassment and paparazzi scrutiny since Hsu’s death. She urged for an end to the attacks, saying: "My husband is devastated, and his two children have lost their mother. The only thing we can do now is take care of them."

Hsu rose to fame in TV series such as "Meteor Garden,""Mars," and "Summer’s Desire." Her personal life, especially her marriages, had long drawn media attention.

She and Wang became engaged in 2010, just 49 days after meeting, and married the following year in Sanya, China. The couple had two children but divorced in November 2021. Hsu was granted custody, and the children primarily lived with her and her maternal family in Taiwan.

After the divorce, Hsu rekindled her romance with DJ Koo, 56, marrying him in February 2022. They remained together until her passing.

Wang later married Mandy in May 2024.
