"My mum loves chasing my girlfriends away," the actor said in an interview, as quoted by The Star. "She does that even when we’re all having a meal together. Nobody can tolerate that as time passes."
Wong added that his mother doesn’t hold back once she disapproves of someone, sometimes even resorting to profanity in front of his partners. He said he had to apologize on multiple occasions before eventually deciding to stop introducing his girlfriends to her.
"It’s better now. No marriage... It drives my mother insane!" he said.
Wong’s most notable relationship was with actress-singer Myolie Wu, whom he dated for eight years before their split in 2012. He has also been romantically linked to several other celebrities but admitted he often struggled to provide a sense of security in relationships.
Despite the challenges, Wong appears content with his current bachelor lifestyle.
At 45, Wong began his career at TVB in 1999, working on variety shows and as an extra before making his official acting debut in 2002. He rose to fame through popular series such as "Triumph in the Skies," "Wars of In-laws," and "Dicey Business."
