Beauty queen Giang My encountered a flight trouble on her way from Vietnam to the U.S. for a vacation, resulting in an airline compensation of VND4 million (US$156).

My said she departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport with friends at the end of May, transiting through Japan before heading to the U.S. About two hours into the flight, the captain announced a technical problem, necessitating a return to the departure airport.

"Upon landing back at Tan Son Nhat, we were jolted by the strong movement, making us realize we had narrowly avoided a dangerous situation," she recounted. "Each passenger received VND4 million in compensation."

Following the incident, My and other passengers had to return to the departure point and wait in line for compensation, which took an entire day. The next day, they resumed their journey but were split into different flights, departing at various times and undergoing the immigration process from scratch.

Born Nguyen Giang My, the 53-year-old beauty queen was active as a model and actress after winning her beauty pageant title "Miss Hung Temple 1989" before venturing into the business world, an occupation she continues to pursue to this day.
