Fu shared a photo with Au Yeung on her Weibo account on Tuesday, captioning: "Happy 28th anniversary to us."
Au Yeung reposted the message with a heart emoji.
The couple’s anniversary quickly became a trending topic on Weibo, with thousands of fans offering their congratulations.
"I hope my idol is always happy," wrote one fan.
"It’s so heartwarming to read about couples staying together for so long," commented another.
In an interview with HK01, Au Yeung shared that he met Fu in the early 1990s. Initially, he was unaware of her wealthy background and only noticed her elegant style. Their relationship became public when paparazzi photographed Fu driving to pick up the actor. It was then revealed that she came from a wealthy family, believed to be connected to Fu Lo Yung, a gambling tycoon in Macau.
This led to rumors that Au Yeung was "sponging off his girlfriend," which caused him stress and pressure. As they got married, Au Yeung faced criticism as a "man who hit the jackpot," with claims that his career thrived thanks to his in-laws’ support.
The actor admitted that while he excelled at acting, he was sometimes immature and bothered by the gossip, which frustrated him. It wasn’t until he spoke with an old friend that he was able to release the pressure. His friend advised him to ignore the outside noise, as focusing on it would only waste precious time for both him and Fu.
The couple had agreed not to have children before marriage, allowing them the freedom to enjoy their lives without added worries.
Au Yeung, 64, began his career at TVB in 1982, gaining fame a decade later with "The File of Justice." He is well known for his roles in popular series such as "Armed Reaction," "Forensic Heroes," and "The Legendary Four Aces."
His significant contribution to the industry was recognized in 2007 when he became the first Hong Kong actor to be nominated for Best Actor at the International Emmy Awards for his role in "Dicey Business."
