22-year-old Chinese actress Long Li Sha reported missing

The family of 22-year-old actress Long Li Sha has reported her missing after she traveled from Beijing to Shaanxi province in northwestern China for a film shoot and exhibited unusual behavior.

Citing Chinese news outlet Sohu, Znews reported that Long Li Sha—a Music Play major at the Communication University of China, known primarily for her roles in online short films—joined the production crew on Feb. 26. The production team initially announced that she had been cast in a supporting role, with filming set to last 15 days.

After arriving in Shaanxi, Long Li Sha reportedly exhibited unusual behavior, raising concerns that she might be under some form of control. She disabled the location function on her phone, making it impossible for her boyfriend to track her whereabouts. Soon after, her responses to messages became irregular, with some suspecting she was being coerced.

A friend who called to check on her location was told that she was in Shaanxi for filming. However, when her friends requested a video call out of concern for her safety, Long Li Sha turned off her camera.

After her friends publicly shared that she was missing, the actress responded with a video posted on her Weibo account. She urged them to remove the posts about her disappearance, assuring them she was safe and merely filming in Shaanxi. She explained that the overwhelming number of messages made it difficult to respond individually but promised to reach out as soon as possible.

Notably, Long Li Sha has not posted any other photos or videos of herself. Additionally, while she claimed to be in the city of Weinan in Shaanxi for filming, her phone’s last recorded location was Ankang, another city in Shaanxi. However, local residents in Ankang reported no knowledge of any film productions taking place there.

According to Sina, Beijing’s Chaoyang district police have received missing person reports from both Long Li Sha’s family and her university. Authorities have since launched an investigation to locate the actress.

The reported disappearance of Long Li Sha follows previous missing person cases of actor Wang Xing and model Yang Zeqi.
