A Singaporean man has been fined S$5,000 (US$3,800) for impersonating a bodyguard for a Malaysian princess in order to attend the concert by South Korean boy band Enhypen with his daughter.

The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of cheating by personation on July 29, the Straits Times reported. His intention was to help his 17-year-old daughter bypass the queue and to monitor her at the concert.

Enhypen’s Fate world tour concerts at the Singapore Indoor Stadium were held on Jan 20 and 21. The man's daughter had purchased tickets for both shows, with prices starting at S$150.

To accompany her, the man falsely claimed to be a bodyguard for a princess from Malaysia’s Selangor state, requesting access to the event to ensure the "princess’s" safety. The event organizers granted his request, allowing him to enter early, South China Morning Post reported.

On Jan 20, the first concert day, he received a special entry pass and took up a position near the entrance to watch over his daughter. However, the organizers grew suspicious of his claims, investigated, and discovered that the man’s daughter was not a princess. They subsequently contacted the police.

The man was apprehended by police when he returned for the second concert day.
