Hanoi-HCMC is the world’s fourth busiest domestic air route, according to OAG, a British provider of digital flight information, intelligence and analytics.

Between Oct. 2021 and Sept. 2022, over 8.5 million flew on the route.

Jeju-Seoul topped with more than 16 million passengers, Sapporo New Chitose Apt-Tokyo followed with 10 million and Fukuoka - Tokyo with 9.8 million, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) said Friday, quoting the OAG rankings.

The rankings indicate the strong recovery by the Vietnamese domestic aviation market after Covid, it said.

In 2019, Hanoi-HCMC had been the world’s sixth busiest route.

The CAAV said 22 Vietnamese airports served 75 million passengers in the first nine months of this year, a year-on-year rise of 162%.

In June the International Air Transport Association had ranked Vietnam as the fastest recovering domestic aviation market.

It was followed by Mexico, Brazil, Russia, Spain, Turkey, and Australia.
