Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) is set to organize 11 pro and amateur tournaments in 2022.

VGA will reboot the national golf tournament system after a quiet 2021 overshadowed by Covid-19. 2022 VGA Tour will be a chance to nurture and scout for talents, as well as improve the level and fighting spirit of golfers in the country.

VGA Tour for professionals this year will have five stages, starting with Lexus Challenge from March 8 to 12 and concluding with Tour Championship from Dec. 14 to 17. The prize pool for each tournament is VND1.5 billion ($66,000).

From this year, VGA Tour will have a leaderboard of achievements and bonuses for pro players to compete in the big final at the end of the season, like the FedEx Cup and Tour Championship of the US PGA Tour, or Race to Dubai of European Tour (DP World Tour).

There will be six tournaments for amateurs, starting with the national championship from June 3 to 5. To participate in this tournament, a participant must reach a maximum handicap of 15.0 for men and 24.0 for women. The organizers will rank players according to the total gross score (the total number of strokes taken in a round) instead of the net score, which equals gross minus handicap.

In July, VGA will deploy all three young amateur tournaments for males and females. After these three events come another national competition in September and last but not least is the national tournament for clubs in November that will conclude the calendar for amateur level. During this period, VGA will only accept male players with a maximum handicap of 9.0 and female players with 15.0.

VGA has not yet decided on the venue for all this year's events.
