The 2023 Women's World Cup trophy was presented at PVF Football Academy in Vietnam on Saturday as part of its journey around the world.

The trophy was introduced to Vietnamese fans on the FIFA-invested football field at PVF in Hanoi. Representatives of FIFA, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the coaching staff of both Vietnam men's and women's football teams participated in the event. This is part of a series of activities to promote the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour. The trophy will go to 29 participating countries in the tournament, as confirmed by FIFA.

FIFA representative, Sarah Gandoin, said at the ceremony she is happy to go to Vietnam with the trophy, and she can feel that people here were inspired when the national women's football team qualified for the World Cup.

"Vietnam will be in a very difficult group with teams that are in the world’s top 10, including the U.S. and Netherlands. But we know that Vietnam are ready for the biggest tournament for women’s football," Gandoin said.

The original design of the trophy in 1998 has a spiral shape that wraps around a match ball. In 2010, a conical base was added with the name of the champion engraved on the bottom. The trophy is 47-cm high, weighs 4.6 kg, made of sterling silver covered with white gold and 23-karat gold. The estimated value of the cup is $30,000.

This is Vietnam’s very first time qualifying for the tournament. They are in group E with the U.S., the Netherlands and a play-off winner. All matches of group E will take place in New Zealand. The three matches of Vietnam will take place in Auckland, Hamilton and Dunedin.

This year's Women's World Cup, hosted in New Zealand and Australia, will begin on July 20 and conclude on August 20. Vietnam and Philippines are Southeast Asia's two teams in the tournament.
