Head coach Philippe Troussier has decided to call up midfielder Nguyen An Khanh, who plays for Czech club Sigma Olomouc, to the Vietnam U23 team.

Khanh, 18, was born in the Czech Republic to Vietnamese parents. He started playing football at five and got into the youth team of local club FK Trinec. When Khanh was 15, Sigma Olomouc spotted his talent and signed him to its youth academy.

Although his main position is a midfielder, Khanh can also play as a forward or a left-winger. He is a regular starter for the Sigma U19 team. In the 2022-2023 season, Khanh bagged seven goals and 20 assists. He's currently a member of the Czech Republic U18 team.

After being introduced to Khanh, coach Troussier watched him play and decided to call him up to the Vietnam U23 team for training in June.

The U23 team were supposed to take part in the friendly tournament Panda Cup in China during that time, but the organizers delayed it due to stadium maintenance.

During the training period in June, the U23 team will train and play two friendlies with V. League clubs Cong An Ha Noi and Hai Phong FC.
