"Vietnam are sitting at the bottom of Group B but they're a tough opponent. They have good defense and are speedy when it comes to counterattacks," Moriyasu said at a Monday press meet.
"Coach Park and his associates have led the team for years and fostered good foundations for them. I don't think Vietnam will go down easily," he added.
"Despite having won a ticket to the World Cup, Japan still have to give their best. This is our final match, and it's happening on our home field, so we want a victory for our fans."
Japan began their matches in the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers with a 0-1 loss against Oman, a 1-0 victory over China and a 0-1 loss against Saudi Arabia. They went on to win six matches in a row to earn their seventh World Cup ticket.
Vietnam, meanwhile, have suffered eight losses and one victory in their World Cup qualifying journey, including a 0-1 loss to Japan in the first leg last November.
For Tuesday’s match against Japan, several key players like Phan Van Duc, Bui Tien Dung, Nguyen Tien Linh and Luong Xuan Truong are absent due to either injuries or Covid-19 infections.
The match will start at 5:35 p.m. (Hanoi time) Tuesday and will be reported live on VnExpress International.
