The best rated player of game was Sophia Smith, who received 9.5 points for scoring a brace to earn the U.S.'s 3-0 victory. Lindsey Horan, who scored the third goal, was rated 8.6.

Thanh was the main reason the U.S. could not have a bigger victory. They had seven on targets and Thanh blocked five of them.

Her most impressive save was against the penalty shot by Alex Morgan in the 44th minute, ending the U.S.'s 20 years of successful penalties.

Sofascore gave the U.S. an average score of 7.34 and Vietnam 6.34. Hoang Thi Loan was rated worst, with 5.7 points, for fouling Trinity Rodman and helping the U.S. earn the penalty. Morgan was rated worst in the U.S. side, with 6.4 points.

The U.S. were controlling possession during the game, having 28 shots, while their keeper Alyssa Naeher did not have to deal with any shots from Vietnam.

Coach Mai Duc Chung said he was satisfied with the result as his players have played with strong spirits and fulfilled their main mission of limiting goals conceded.

Vietnam play Portugal next on July 27, when the U.S. play the Netherlands.
