Vietnam beat Myanmar 4-1 in a penalty shootout Sunday match, winning the last ticket to the 2022 AFC Futsal Asian Cup finals in Kuwait in September.

The victory against Myanmar also earned Vietnam the bronze medal at the 2022 Southeast Asian futsal tournament, the AFF Futsal Championship, for the fifth time, after 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2019.

The team's best achievement at the AFF Futsal Championship was runner-up in 2009 and 2012.

Goalkeeper Ho Van Y helped Vietnam win the penalty shootout, thwarting four shots from Myanmar’s Chan Thar and Zin Oo.

Tran Van Vu and Pham Duc Hoa found the net with the first two shots for Vietnam, and the other scorers were Khong Dinh Hung and Nguyen Minh Tri.

This also marks the sixth time Vietnam has made it to the AFC Futsal Asian Cup.
